Description: This project is in response to NYCHA’s initiative to fill vacant land throughout the city with affordable housing. RKTB seamlessly integrates a new residence within the existing NYCHA community, strongly relating elements of the site plan and façade material to its context. The design replaces the existing open space with a series of open spaces ranging from semi-private to public, and incorporates “green” roofs into both the new Meltzer Two building and the existing Meltzer Tower.
